Hello, my name is Sammy Jo Brooks and I'm a 24 year old Highland dancer from Corby, Northamptonshire. I dance with a local dance school, Lesley school of Highland dancing. I started dancing when I was 14 years old which is a lot older than most dancers would start. I have competed all around the UK and won many medals and trophies along the way. I'm not here to preach a dreamer speech, or to make you believe in a perfect world where everyone who wants to dance can do it. Of course that if you want to be a professional dancer or you have the desire to live exclusively by dance, I recommend you starting early....

My first blog of 2020!!I had a great time at the 2nd UKA Scholarship in Newtonhill last weekend.  The weekend started with us travelling down on Friday night with friends ready for the early start on Saturday. At the Scholarship on Saturday there were three different events, Theory, Workshop and Choreography Dance.  My age group was Junior which was 12 to 15 years which had 46 dancers.  My first event was the a theory paper based on Grade 1 & 2 I had to do some study for this and although I don't know my grade I think it went well.  My second...
