Dance After Injury
Hello world! Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for everyone following me on my new Instagram @highland_summer it’s been hard trying to find everyone again after getting locked out of my old one.
So, I was due to compete at Inverness Highland Games last weekend, but sadly, it didn’t happen. Every year, the highland dancers are part of the opening ceremony, and take part in a mass highland fling. We do one first, and then everybody comes on the field and joins in. One of the drawbacks of dancing on the ground is that it’s uneven, and me being me, mid fling, my foot went into a dent in the grass and I really hurt my ankle. I did the worst thing and continued on with the second fling, which is regret now. I sat for a couple of hours, stretching and moving, hoping to be able to dance. My foot just kept getting worse and I had to go up to the hospital- so now I’m on crutches.
Does anyone have any magical stretches and exercises to help me? I’ve been resting, icing and stretching. It’s my favourite competition of the year in 11 days and I’m desperate to do it. I’ve already had to miss out on the Inverness Games, City of Inverness Champs and I don’t want to miss Abernethy too. Definitely going to bandage up for the competition and rest in between dances.
What has everyone been up to in the holidays? Any nice holidays? I’ve been busy at my gymnastics summer camps, and had family visiting. We’re going up to Skye to stay with family just before going back to school, so hopefully the weather will stay nice,
I’ve included some photos with this blog. Obviously my best friend Zoe, her sister Emma, my cousin Alexa and my other cousin Emma.
Going to do a “What’s in my competition bag” next, The a couple of bun tutorials with my Mum.
