Emma Bancks.
About me:
I have been dancing for about 3 1/2 now. I was a late starter. I am the first in my family to ever do highland dancing. Both my parents are clueless.! I wanted to go to highland dancing as my friend did. I never expected to love it so much but honestly I think that's because our teacher Tina make us a family 
What pumps do I wear:
I like open toe pumps I tried quite a few now but must say I love thistle dance shoes. The leather is so soft and they easily fit my narrow feet. I use my older pumps as practice ones and keep newer ones for competitions. I probably now have to buy 2-3 new pairs a year. Sorry mum 
Favourite dance:
To be honest I don't really have one. I love all the highland dances but not a great fan of the flora and lilt but still I try my best. If I had to choose I would have to say the highland laddie. My dads favourite it the strathspey and my mum loves me doing the swords despite the fact she says she hold her breath whilst it do them.
Dance idol:
Locally I aspire to be like Lisa Mcgillivray and Morven Laycock and Claire Black is a lovely dancer. On an international level I would love to be like Rebecca Throw and Morgan Bamford. If was lucky enough to have a workshop with Morgan recently thanks to Tina.
Favourite Competition:
My favourite has to Christina Cairns competition not only as she is my teacher but that was the first competition I ever did and the also the first competition I was placed and got a stamp 
Other than that I of course love Cowal and Bute Games and Inveraray always bring the sun which mean a tan so love that competition 
How old were you when you started:
Like I said I was a late starter for HD. I was well over 7 so missed out on primary 
and jumped straight to beginners.
Mum and dad weren't that interested but now it a different story they are so supportive although have no clue what I am doing if if right or wrong.
Have you won any trophies:
To be honest I don't know overall as I didn't expect to ever need to keep count. I have been lucky enough to win 20 trophies so far this year and in total over 300 medals since starting beginners
Kilt tartan:
I have a lovely new kilt outfit with matching flora this year from Highland World which is the Dress royal blue Scott. I love it and I not yet seen anyone with with same kilt. Previously I have had the royal blue Cunningham and the cerise Menzies. Both of which I loved but now sticking to the blue.
When I m not dancing
I love going out with friend and having fun. I love shopping just for fun. I am also part of Dunoon swimming club and compete with them too. I like to take the opportunity to sleep in and love meeting up with friends in down time x
Since Cowal I haven't competed a much need rest for the and my parents. My next competition is in Dunoon on the 24th of this month. Come along always a great competition. I am bias as done by my teacher Tina Cairns. So lots of pressure to win lol
Trophies and medals:
These are all kept in my room
. I have a cupboard I display all my trophies on and I am always sad to return them. My medals are currently on the wall or medals boards but we have just bought a medal box as can't display them anymore
Waistcoats or Jacket.
I had a waistcoat for a few months but I am jacket all the way. For me now no other option
Favourite shop:
Surely as an ambassador it goes without saying THE HIGHLAND DANCER!!! OMG I have everything I need. Hangers, water bottle, mini cases, stickers, water bottles, t-shirts, leggings, jumpers, crop tops, fleeces, pump bag, shopper bag my tote my Gorgeous shell jacket my onesie so comfy plus many more. No need to go elsewhere except Highland World for my formal outfits.
What next:
For me a quiet winter with probably 1 competition a month before I move into premier next year. I hope I do well and make all who believe in me proud but ultimately want to have fun and enjoy it all. At the end of the day that's what is all about trying our best and having fun
