So Sophie has been telling you all about us and our dance school so I want to tell you a bit about what I love loads and what I don’t love so much about highland dancing!
I love competitions
I love that you spend all day with your friends dancing and chatting and having fun in between dancing 8 or 10 dances that you really enjoy doing and feel so happy after dancing each one.
It really makes me feel great to dance in competitions as I enjoy dancing against others trying to make myself dance better and better each time but before and after the dances standing in line with your other competitors and chatting and having fun with them and getting to know new people in your group.
The competitions I enjoy the most are the further away ones where we get to stay overnight in a hotel. It’s always really good fun with all the mums having a nice wee social night and all the dancers and their brothers and sisters getting to hang out in different rooms and go between the rooms seeing different friends who are maybe doing different things.
Sometimes there are even friends from different dance schools staying too and you can see them.
Now what I don’t like so much - the JIG haha,
I don’t think it’s my best dance and it really annoys me that I can’t get the first step to be as good as I want it to be.
I also got my lowest ever exam mark for my jig! I like the music, the outfit, the angry bits but I just don’t like my first step!
So what I think though is that highland dancing must be great as this is the thing I like the least!
