1st Blog from Sammy-Jo Brooks for The Highland Dancer

Hello, My name is Sammy-Jo Brooks.

Im 22 years old and only started dancing when i was 14 years old. I took up dancing just as something to do after school but found I really loved it and wanted to start competing.

When my older sister was younger she too danced and was really good at it so i though maybe it was in the blood (Or maybe it wasn't :D).

I dance with 'Lesley's school of highland dancing' in Corby. Corby is referred to as 'little Scotland' so there are many different schools in this little town.

I have competed at many competitions and been in Premier Adults for 3 years. I hated being the oldest in all the groups at competitions because i thought it had a disadvantage dancing with much younger children.

I enjoy doing displays and shows for charities etc. We do a few shows through the year at care homes for older people. I love this because they are used to the daily routines and then sometimes they get days of entertainment for something a bit different for them to enjoy.

I Would love to be able to compete at Cowal in the future. I went to watch in 2016 and loved every minute of it. Some amazing dancers

Now I love The Highland Dancer website as there are always very exiting new products released. I have had a few hoodies, leggings, shorts, tops etc and ALL of great quality. I really wouldn't go anywhere else for my dance gear. Its so good for presents too if there are dancers involved as everything can be personalized. I cant wait to see what they have in store for us next (I'm sure my bank account would have other opinions on this). I am looking forward to working with 'The highland dancer' team and to watch their business grow. - We are looking forward to working with you Sammy-Jo, you have been with us from the start xx
