Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I last wrote a blog for The Highland Dancer so where do I start
Lock down was tough not being able to go out and enjoy doing the thing I love the most DANCING!!! Which I'm sure was the same for most of you guys.
Since being back at dancing lessons after lock down we firstly focused on our dance exams as they were approaching fast and I was due to do 3 exams (Highland, National and Hornpipe) . On 11th September we done our exams. I managed to complete my highland but when I started my national ones I went over on my ankle and when I got it checked out at urgent care centre they advised me not to dance for 6-8 weeks as I had torn ligaments in my foot this was hard for me as I find my mental health gets effected when things like this happen. Anyway I was out of lessons for a few weeks and then I went back as I was due to dance at a competition.
My first competition after lock down I placed 3rd in all dances which I was so happy about as I didn't even think I'd get through them all I missed the next competition due to my sore foot but I still went to support all the dancers.
I love competitions as you see people you haven't seen in a long time from all over the UK and even people I've never met, I find myself talking to them while lining up ready to dance!! I'd be so lost without dancing it's literally the best thing in my life.
Final thing I want to say is a big Big thank you to Nicola, you put your all into making new things for the Highland Dancer website and I'm so lucky to have received some fabulous gifts. I cannot wait to order some more personalised items and showcase them at competitions and just in everyday life.
Thank you for reading and I wish everyone the best of luck in the last few competitions of the season
