My name is Ashley Laird and I am 10. I attend Speirs School of Highland Dancing in Rothesay and have been going there since I was 3.
Due to COVID, I missed out on a lot of competitions at Primary level but I’ve had a very successful time in Beginners, Novice and Intermediate, winning over 12 trophies and well over 200 medals.
I recently attended a competition organised by the Sollus School of Highland Dancing in Londonderry, Northern Ireland which was amazing. I have met lots of new friends and travelled all over the country through Highland Dancing.
I really enjoy all the Highland Dances but my best dance is the Sword Dance. The dance I need to improve on most is my Highland Fling.
I’m really looking forward to moving up to the Premier section soon and facing new challenges.
