Thank you so much for all the great comments about our first blog!
Thought that I’d let you know a wee bit more about our dance school...we dance with Frankie Campbell Dance School who are based in Edinburgh.
Frankie teaches all classes from beginners to advanced and also adults highland fitness classes too.
We go to two classes a week both for 90 minutes. We go to all the same classes and normally get on but sometimes we can have a wee (or big) fall out! We both dance in different groups at competitions so that stops a bit of the competitiveness between us - I’m in the Novice group and Annie is in Open.
But we recently did exams and couldn’t wait to compare our results!
So at class we start with a warm up this is a mixture of exercise and dance moves to get us ready for the class ahead. During classes we go through all dances perfecting our existing steps or leaning new more advanced ones.
We also work on any special dances that may be coming up at competitions soon.
At classes just now we are working on choreography for a competition in June, we are split into groups, duets etc and work with Frankie to come up with steps to suit our music.
The theme of the choreography competition this year is Scottish so we all try to pick music that we think no one else will have picked! We are also practicing at every class for our dance school show which is in June this year.
We always finish class by doing a fun cool down to good music and maybe playing a game as part of our cool down.
Frankie is a great teacher and we can talk to her and ask her things easily, she is really great to talk to and is always there for us - but she does work us hard especially when we dance with ankle and wrist weights!
The friends we have made at dance school are amazing we all live in different parts of Edinburgh and most of us go to different schools so it’s great when we get together for dancing.
The pupils at Frankie’s school range from nursery age to 17 and we all get on great and are all really supportive of each other.
Dance friends really are forever friends.
We will be back real soon with our next blog :)
